What even are Eco Tees? We're here to tell ya'

I know some of you are probably looking at our new range of Eco Tee's and thinking the world has gone mad. Eco Tees? Surely clothing isn't damaging the planet? Can't we all stick to not using plastic straws and reusable mugs?

We're here to tell you, sadly, clothing is one of the most planet destructive industries and fast fashion is what's causing it.

What is 'Fast Fashion'?

Let's roll back to the begging of the last centuary, it's the early 1900's and every item of clothing you wear is almost certaintly handmade (and designed to LAST!)

Men's suits were tailored, women sewed their own dresses. items were designed to be fixed and adapted, not worn twice and discarded.

Rolling it forward we now live in a time where people are buying more and more clothing as fashions rapidly change, this is known as Fast Fashion.

Fast Fashion is a trend to emerge in more recent years, brands such as primark, boohoo, misguided, Pretty Little Thing are all guilty of selling lesser quality items inexpensively with little consideration to the ways in which their clothes are manufactured. It's not just high street fashion brands who are guilty, our equestrian industry has a lot to answer for!

But how is this damaging the planet?

It takes on average 3000 litres of water to make one cotton t-shirt.

to put that amount Into perspective, it equates roughly to three years of drinking water or 37 full baths

A 2017 report found that, in 2015 alone, the fashion industry consumed 79 billion cubic meters of water — enough to fill 32 million Olympic-size swimming pools. That figure is expected to increase by 50% by 2030. It's a staggering amount since Earth’s water resources are running low.

How are is our Eco Equestrian Range different?

Every item in the Eco Equestrian Collab range is made from recycled material. They are half recycled plastic bottles and half recycled pre consumer organic cotton that has been salvaged and respun from the offcuts at factories making Organic Cotton T-shirts.

By purchasing one of our t-shirts you are not only supporting a fair trade factory but also a clothing and material recycling scheme, meaning less and less product will enter landfill.

So not only are our tee's planet friendly they look great and feel great too.
